Urban Fabric Initiatives (UFI) is a program developed by AFD, which aim to create public spaces or local community facilities, through collaborative efforts, and to support the animation and the management of these sites.

The Tamale UFI is a small project within a larger program, the Sustainable Cities: Tamale Urban Resilience Project (TURP). This broader initiative is collectively co-financed by the AFD and the European Union (EU).

Specifically, the Tamale UFI aims to finance the co-design, co-construction, and co-management of small-scale facilities such as public spaces, sports grounds, toilet blocks, and market areas in close collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs (MLGCRA) and the Tamale Municipal Assembly (TaMA).
